For this episode of 'DIY SOS' I was asked to paint a trompe l'oeil louvre shuttered window overlooking the lavender fields of Provence.
I painted the mural on a stairwell wall for a master bedroom and it complimented the French farmhouse theme that designer Julia Kendell created for the room.
The mural took just two long days to complete - to see more images please click on the photo below.
Murals & Trompe L'Oeil
Murals & Trompe L'Oeil paintings have become a unique and appealing way
of adding personality to a business or home
Consideration for the architectural detailing, colour and mood of the
environment creates bespoke artwork which is both individual and sensitive
to the style and period of the setting.
Trompe l'oeil is a French expression which simply translates as 'trick the eye'. It describes
a painted illusion, a visual joke, specifically designed to fool viewers into
believing that what they are seeing is actually real.
It is only when they come closer to inspect the work in more detail - perhaps
even as they reach over to pick up a realistically painted wine glass -
they realize to their delight that they have been duped.
Good trompe l'oeil murals can blur the boundary between fantasy and reality,
making the viewer believe they are looking out onto a Provencal or Tuscan landscape -
even from the confines of a windowless room.
Childrens Murals
I also create unique murals and themes for childrens rooms.
A personally designed mural can transform a child's room into their own fantasy world - from fairytale castles to Amazon jungles and from underwater scenes to outer space.
I also create glow-in-the-dark stars and planets for childrens ceilings - to see more details and examples of my work please follow this link

Television
I have been very fortunate by having the opportunity to take part in numerous home makeover television programs.
I have appeared on ITV's '60 Minute Makeover' and more recently on BBC1's 'DIY SOS' including the Children in Need special 2009.

Venetian Window Video
This is the second video I have produced. This mural is something I have been meaning to paint for quite some time.
I have always been fascinated with the eclectic facades and contrasting wall textures of the city of Venice and wanted to try and reproduce this.
There are lots of examples of my mural work to see here - if you look in the gallery link on the top menu bar you will see that all my work has been catagorised for your convenience. All the murals in the galleries have slideshows which give more information on the work as well as showing more images.
I paint murals in a variety of styles on commissions from restaurants, hotels, leisure centres, private homes and childrens rooms.
I am based in Essex and I can cover the areas of London and the home counties. Occasionally I will work further afield to cover the whole of the UK and abroad.
I will more than happy to discuss your requirements without obligation and provide preliminary sketches and a quotation thereafter.
